The Ukrainian government introduces a winter aid package for the population
In December, the government will launch the “winter support” program, which includes financial assistance for Ukrainians ranging from 1000 to 6500 hryvnias to cover basic needs.
Minister of Social Policy Denys Ulyutin announced the introduction of a new “winter support” package aimed at providing a one-time financial assistance of 6500 hryvnias. This aid is intended for families with children under guardianship, family-type children’s homes, children from low-income families, people with the first disability group among internally displaced persons, and single pensioners. Financial resources can be spent on food, medicine, warm clothing, and utilities.
Additionally, all citizens who apply in December will be allocated an additional amount of 1000 hryvnias. This can be used for a wider range of expenses, including travel, medicine, and other needs from a list similar to last year’s.
Starting November 1st, a program for compensating electricity costs has also been launched—100 kW per person or 300 kW per family, for residents of frontline areas. Moreover, there is a one-time aid program for purchasing solid fuel for people in frontline areas or other privileged categories.
It should be recalled that President Volodymyr Zelensky already announced this “winter support” package in his video address and held a meeting with the Minister of Social Policy and the Minister of Economy, during which the details of its implementation were discussed.
