The Ukrainian Armed Forces repelled the Russian troops’ breakthrough attempt in Kostiantynivka under the cover of fog
Ukrainian military repelled the Russian troops’ attempt to break into the city of Kostiantynivka in the Donetsk region and its surroundings, which was carried out under the cover of thick fog. The event was commented on by the 28th Separate Mechanized Brigade of the Ukrainian Armed Forces.
The servicemen of the 28th Separate Mechanized Brigade reported that Russian troops gathered significant forces in the direction of Kostiantynivka, trying to take advantage of the fog for a sudden strike. However, thanks to the operational work of Ukrainian intelligence and the precision of the military, the enemy’s attempt failed. “The fog became a trap for the invaders themselves, as they could not see where the fire was coming from, while the defenders acted precisely and accurately,” the brigade noted.
As a result of the unsuccessful attack, Russian troops suffered significant losses, some had to retreat, and others remained on the battlefield. “Military equipment also suffered, reducing the possibility of a repeated attack,” the 28th Separate Mechanized Brigade clarified.
Despite the threatening situation, Kostiantynivka remains under Ukrainian control. According to the OSINT project Deepstate, the front line has approached the city to about 6 kilometers. It should be noted that changes on the map appear with a delay.
Recall that earlier, the military of the 7th Airborne Corps also recorded attempts by Russian troops to advance in Pokrovsk, taking advantage of thick fog. Meanwhile, in other directions, the situation has somewhat stabilized, as announced by President Volodymyr Zelensky.
