The Government of Ukraine has approved a plan to renew the governing bodies of energy companies
The Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine approved an action plan for the renewal of the supervisory boards and executive bodies for state companies in the fuel and energy complex. This decision was made at a government meeting on November 17, as reported by Prime Minister of Ukraine Yuliya Svyrydenko.
As noted by Svyrydenko, the decision is aimed at rebooting the management of state energy companies by forming new compositions of supervisory boards. Within this plan, a number of strategic steps were announced for key enterprises in the sector. Among them:
| Company | Actions |
|---|---|
| NAEC Energoatom | Formation of a new supervisory board |
| NAK Naftogaz | Competitive selection for the supervisory board, formation of executive bodies |
| PrJSC Ukrhydroenergo | Appointment of a new state representative on the supervisory board |
| LLC Gas Transmission System Operator of Ukraine | Renewal of the state representative on the supervisory board |
| NEC Ukrenergo | Renewal of the state representative on the supervisory board |
| PJSC Centrenergo and others | Formation of new supervisory boards |
| SE Guaranteed Buyer | Transformation into a joint-stock company, formation of a new supervisory board |
These changes are part of a broader government process to reboot management in the state energy sector, which was announced by the President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky. Previously, NABU and SAP conducted a large-scale operation to identify corruption schemes in the energy sector, which contributed to the necessity of renewing the governing structures.
It is expected that such actions will ensure more responsible and transparent management of state enterprises, which will ultimately positively impact the country’s economy and energy security.
