Poltava TCC explains the situation with forced mobilization
Roman Istomin, a representative of the Poltava Regional Territorial Recruitment Center, stated that forced delivery to the TCC is legal but a necessary measure during wartime.
In his interview, he explained that all cases of “forced mobilization” discussed online are carefully examined. Istomin emphasized that such actions are legal, although uncharacteristic for peacetime. The serviceman noted that Ukraine has both voluntary contract service and compulsory mobilization. Forced delivery is enacted due to some conscripts’ reluctance to fulfill their duties to the state.
Delivery to territorial centers often does not mean immediate mobilization. Many are sent to the military medical commission, some have deferrals, but documents are not processed. These shortcomings lead to scandalous stories online about “taken from the street” or “drafted with a deferral.”
Istomin noted that videos of forced mobilization are subject to review. According to the Ground Forces, only 10% of such incidents were confirmed in mid-September, while 90% turned out to be fake. In the case of illegality, actions are reviewed by law enforcement. The TCC representative also added that even the presence of body cameras does not eliminate the possibility of fact distortion.
Information about suicide cases among TCC employees, highlighted by the military ombudsman, underscores the stress and challenges faced by the center’s workers.
