Eight dead and 27 wounded as a result of Russian strike on Odesa region

As a result of a missile strike by Russian forces in the Odesa region, eight people were killed and 27 others were injured. The strike targeted port infrastructure on the evening of December 19.

The State Emergency Service reported that some of the victims were in a bus that ended up in the epicenter of the attack. As a result of the shelling, trucks caught fire in the parking lot, and cars were also damaged. The fires were quickly extinguished. According to the head of the regional administration, Oleh Kiper, the occupiers used ballistic missiles. The Air Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine warned about swift targets near Yuzhne by Odesa.

The previous day, December 18, Russian drones hit a car on a bridge near Mayaky in the Odesa region. A woman in the car was killed, and her three children were hospitalized. This strike led to the closure of roads in the Dniester estuary area, complicating travel to Moldova.

The authorities published a list of available border points in the Vinnytsia and Chernivtsi regions, as movement in some areas of the Odesa region remained restricted. Prime Minister Svyridenko stated that despite the occupiers’ attacks, no fuel price increase is expected.

The head of the Center for Countering Disinformation at the National Security and Defense Council noted that Russian occupiers have no ability to land in Odesa and the region, emphasizing the region’s defense capabilities.
