Ukrainian intelligence forecasts an acceleration of Russia’s plans to attack Europe
The head of the Main Intelligence Directorate, Kyrylo Budanov, reported that Russia has brought forward its plans to attack European countries. According to him, the Baltic countries could be under threat of occupation.
Budanov noted in his interview with media LB.ua that Russia is adjusting its plans from 2030 to 2027, anticipating the possible occupation of Latvia, Lithuania, and Estonia. This is happening against the backdrop of deep historical and psychological motives that drive the Russian worldview.
Budanov explains that according to the Russian perspective, the empire must constantly expand its influence and territories, and in this context, the western direction is considered a priority. Poland, according to the existing plans, is viewed only for strikes without capturing territory.
It is worth noting that earlier the German defense minister expressed concern about the restoration of Russian military capabilities, expecting that an attack might occur from 2029. However, recent data indicate the possibility of an earlier development of events.
| Country | Possible Attack Date |
|---|---|
| Latvia | 2027 |
| Lithuania | 2027 |
| Estonia | 2027 |
