Novorossiysk port partially resumed oil exports after drone attack – media

The Black Sea port of Novorossiysk resumes oil transshipment after drone attack

The Black Sea port of Novorossiysk partially resumed oil and petroleum product transshipment on April 9, after a temporary suspension of operations due to a drone attack, Reuters reports, citing industry sources.

The Sheskharis terminal in Novorossiysk, which ships about 700,000 barrels of oil daily, was forced to halt operations on April 6 following a drone strike that caused a fire. Oil loading onto tankers was resumed only from one dock late in the evening on April 9. According to industry sources, a shipment of about 80,000 tons of oil is expected on Friday. The port has also resumed the transshipment of fuel oil and diesel.

Experts note that the incident could lead to a revision of the export schedule, as the infrastructure was damaged. In 2025, Novorossiysk port terminals exported 19.8 million tons of petroleum products, highlighting their importance for the region and the global oil market.

It was previously reported that during the drone attack, the fire engulfed the oil-loading dock. Subsequently, Ukrainian military officials claimed a successful strike on a Russian missile frigate and the floating drilling rig “Sivash.” Such actions could create tension in the region and impact the stability of exports.
