Northern and Baltic countries will purchase weapons for Ukraine from the United States worth $500 million.

European countries will support Ukraine with a military aid package of 500 million dollars

Denmark, Estonia, Finland, Iceland, Latvia, Lithuania, Norway, and Sweden will allocate 500 million dollars to Ukraine for the purchase of military equipment from the United States under the PURL program.

The delivery will be carried out through the NATO initiative “Priority Ukrainian Requirements List” (PURL). According to official information, allies from Northern and Baltic Europe are increasing funding for critically important military equipment for Ukraine. NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte emphasized the importance of this equipment, especially in the winter period. He stressed that NATO allies will continue to supply the necessary equipment and materials.

PURL is an initiative launched by the US and NATO aimed at providing Ukraine with critical armaments. This is done by financing the delivery of American-made supplies by Alliance countries. The mechanism allows partner countries to finance the purchase of such weaponry according to the priority list of needs identified by Ukraine and agreed upon with the US and NATO.

The PURL program marks its first delivery, which became known on September 18. However, in mid-October, the head of the Office of the President of Ukraine, Andriy Yermak, reported delays. Nevertheless, on November 10, the North Atlantic Alliance stated that the implementation of the program is ongoing.
