“Military Affairs Are Closer to Me”: Interview with Hnatov on Negotiations and Yermak’s Role in Them

General Hnatov will represent Ukraine at international negotiations

The Chief of the General Staff, Andriy Hnatov, has assumed new responsibilities to represent Ukraine in international negotiations following Andriy Yermak’s departure from the position of Head of the Office of the President.

On November 28, President Volodymyr Zelensky officially announced a change in the leadership of the Ukrainian negotiation team. Andriy Yermak, who previously led the working group on peace negotiations, has left his position, and now his duties in international negotiations are partially taken over by General Andriy Hnatov.

In an interview with the portal LIGA.net, Hnatov acknowledged that participation in such events is a new chapter in his career, as he has dedicated his entire professional journey to service in the Armed Forces. Despite the lack of previous experience, the general noted that the Ukrainian delegation continues to effectively advance issues related to the Armed Forces on the negotiation stage.

Recently, General Hnatov returned from negotiations in Geneva, where Donald Trump’s “peace plan” was discussed. Hnatov emphasized that the atmosphere at the meeting was less tense than many observers expected. This may indicate a potential opportunity to move forward with peace initiatives aimed at ending the war in Ukraine.
