Chinese Business in Russia: Growing Number of Companies with Chinese Founders
The share of companies with Chinese founders in the Russian market has significantly increased over the past four years, rising from 3.6% to 22.3% of the total number of organizations with foreign participation.
According to the Rusprofile service, reported by Russia’s “Vedomosti”, from December 2021 to February 2026, the number of such companies increased tenfold from 1,434 to 14,798. Last year alone, a record 4,317 new firms with Chinese participation were registered. At the same time, between 2021 and 2026, 2,653 companies registered to Chinese citizens closed.
Experts note that Chinese companies seek to register legal entities in Russia to control sales, logistics, and financial settlements with local partners. This trend may lead to increased dependence of the Russian economy on Chinese supplies of equipment, technologies, and consumer goods.
It is noteworthy that the leaders of China and Russia, Xi Jinping and Vladimir Putin, recently held a video conference discussing the development of relations between Beijing and Moscow. China also urged its citizens in Russia to exercise caution.
