Iran warned of a possible rise in oil prices to 200 dollars.

Tehran predicts oil prices to rise to $200 after US strikes on Iran

Iran warns of potential global oil price rise to $200 per barrel following recent US military strikes on Iranian targets. This marks another stage of escalating tensions between the two countries.

Spokesperson for Iran’s military command, Ebrahim Zolfaghari, expressed on social media platform X the impossibility of negotiations with the US as long as Washington continues its “military adventures.” He emphasized that “the American authorities have repeatedly shown that they only respond to force” and urged preparation for a possible significant increase in oil prices.

On May 25, the US Central Command announced strikes on several targets in southern Iran, stating these actions were conducted in self-defense. Missile installations and boats suspected of intending to lay mines were destroyed. Iranian media also report a series of explosions near the Strait of Hormuz, close to the cities of Sirik and Jask.

The US and Iran continue negotiations on a possible extension of the ceasefire for 60 days, which involves easing the blockade by the US and resuming navigation through the Strait of Hormuz by Iran. However, serious disputes remain between the parties, threatening the achievement of agreements.

Information about a possible increase in oil prices raises concerns in the markets. Experts warn that further escalation could intensify volatility in energy markets and further ignite the conflict in the region.
