The National Energy and Utilities Regulatory Commission has approved a draft decision to increase the tariffs for NPC “Ukrenergo” for electricity transmission, which may take effect from July 1.
According to the new draft, the electricity transmission tariff is proposed to be set at 903.53 UAH/MWh excluding VAT, which is 21.62% higher than the previous figure. After the discussion, the project will be finally approved. For “green” electrometallurgy enterprises, the tariff will increase to 535.97 UAH/MWh, representing an increase of 42%. In addition, the tariff component for Ukrenergo’s special obligations to pay for electricity from renewable sources is set at 367.56 UAH/MWh. The tariff for dispatching is proposed to be increased by 7.83% to 118.64 UAH/MWh.
The regulator’s initiative is related to changes in the domestic and international economic environment, particularly the rise in exchange rates and the change in the volume of forecasted electricity transmission. Additionally, the increase in price caps since May of this year has affected the need to adjust current tariffs. It is worth noting that such measures often cause social tension, but their goal is to ensure the stable functioning of the country’s energy system.
