Inflation in Ukraine accelerated to 7.6% in February compared to the previous period, according to data from the State Statistics Service. Food prices increased the most, adding an average of 1.4%.
According to the State Statistics Service report, vegetable prices rose by 13%, while fruits, eggs, and alcoholic beverages also showed growth in annual terms. At the same time, there was a decrease in prices for some types of meat and dairy products. In particular, poultry meat, pork, and cheese fell in price from 0.3% to 4.1% compared to the previous month.
Transport prices increased by 1.4% due to the rising cost of fuel, while railway transport fares decreased by 2.2%. Mobile communication tariffs increased by 9.1%, causing an overall increase in prices in the communication sector by 5.2%.
The increase in the consumer price index in Ukraine may have a lasting impact on the purchasing power of the population, particularly those consuming more expensive food products. Experts note that price dynamics are driven by both internal and external factors, including changes in global markets and regulatory policies.
