The Supreme Court upheld a life sentence for Artemiy Ryabchuk
The Supreme Court upheld the life sentence for soldier Artemiy Ryabchuk, convicted of the murder of National Guardsmen at the “Pivdenmash” plant in January 2022.
The State Bureau of Investigations announced the confirmation of the sentence passed by the Krasnogvardeysky District Court of Dnipro in April 2024. Numerous examinations were conducted during the investigation, including a psychological-psychiatric one, which showed that Ryabchuk was sane and acted consciously. He was found guilty of several serious crimes, including violation of statutory military interaction rules, premeditated murder, attempted murder, weapon theft, desertion, and illegal handling of weapons.
Recall that on January 27, 2022, Artemiy Ryabchuk, at night, during the issuance of weapons, opened fire with a Kalashnikov assault rifle on National Guard servicemen at the “Pivdenmash” plant, after which he fled the scene with stolen weapons and ammunition. The investigation considered several versions of what happened, the reason being recognized as the incompatibility of relationships within the unit.
Currently, the case has gained wide resonance due to its complexity and the correctness of the verdict. Experts believe that the final court decision emphasizes the principle of the inevitability of punishment for serious crimes and the importance of adhering to legal norms.
