Zelensky to meet with Nawrocki in Warsaw on December 19
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky announced his visit to Poland for a meeting with Polish leader Karol Nawrocki, which will take place on December 19. The parties will discuss security issues, economic and historical aspects.
During a conversation with the media, Zelensky emphasized the importance of partnership relations with Poland and expressed gratitude for their support. “We are very grateful to Poland for the support. For us, this is an important neighborhood,” the president noted. The previous day was noted as Friday, December 19, for the visit to Warsaw. The Polish side also confirmed this date of the visit, clarifying that details of the upcoming negotiations are currently being agreed upon.
Polish President Nawrocki, who is known for his criticism of Ukraine’s accession to the EU and NATO, previously stated the importance of recognizing Poland’s efforts in humanitarian and military support to Ukraine. He hopes for Zelensky’s openness to certain Polish initiatives and thanks Poland for its strategic support.
Nawrocki has repeatedly expressed his negative position towards Russia. In the past, he headed the Institute of National Remembrance of Poland, dealing with the issue of dismantling Soviet army monuments. During the current political situation, including the US peace plan, Nawrocki emphasized Ukraine’s right to a decisive voice in international negotiations.
The meeting in Warsaw will take place in the context of ongoing discussions on opportunities for Polish-Ukrainian cooperation, which may open new prospects for both countries.
