Joe Biden accused Donald Trump of destroying democracy
46th President of the United States Joe Biden criticized Donald Trump’s policies, stating that he not only destroyed the White House but also the foundations of democracy in the country. These statements were made at a festive evening organized by the Democratic Party of Nebraska in Omaha.
Speaking at the event, Biden said: “I knew Trump was going to ruin the country, but I must admit, I did not imagine it would be a real wrecking ball. This is a perfect symbol of his presidency. Trump destroyed not only the White House but also the Constitution, the rule of law, our very democracy.” The former president referred to the demolition of the East Wing of the White House for the construction of a ballroom covering 8.3 square meters.
Biden added that democracy is not a given, and it is not guaranteed even in the United States. He emphasized the importance of electing leaders who protect democratic values. Moreover, Biden disagreed with Trump’s claim that his presidency brought a “golden age” to America: “The only gold is what he hung on the mantelpiece.” This remark was made against the backdrop of reports of gilded decorations added by Trump to the Oval Office.
On October 23, the White House published a list of sponsors for Trump’s ballroom, which cost 300 million dollars. The list included companies such as Apple, Amazon, Microsoft, Google, and others. The next day it became known that the East Wing of the White House was completely demolished, and satellite images showed the progress of the new hall’s construction.
