The National Police visited the activist Zhernakov’s residence to deliver a summons from the Temporary Parliamentary Commission
Representatives of the National Police of Ukraine visited Mykhailo Zhernakov, co-founder and chairman of the DEJURE Foundation, to deliver him a summons to a session of the Verkhovna Rada’s Temporary Investigative Commission on Law Enforcement Activities.
On November 18, around 12:30, Zhernakov reported that the police referred to an official request from the commission’s chairman, Serhiy Vlasenko, and its member, Maksym Buzhanskyi. The police confirmed to LIGA.net that the visit’s purpose was solely to inform the activist about the upcoming commission meeting. The police waited for Zhernakov’s lawyer to arrive and suggested agreeing on a convenient date for attending the commission without using force. Zhernakov stated that the commission does not have a mandate to summon activists and he had no intention of attending the meeting due to lack of time and desire.
Zhernakov recently criticized the Temporary Investigative Commission, accusing it of attempting to undermine NABU and SAP’s work, as well as trying to interfere in the processes of judiciary system cleansing.
Previously, the commission planned to publish a conclusion on the inefficiency of NABU and SAP in June 2025, which, according to the activist, could create prerequisites for their cancellation.
The use of measures that are not properly documented and lack clear grounds can lead to potential escalation of conflicts in society and undermine trust in law enforcement agencies and authorities.
