Audit of Energoatom: interim results expected in December
In Ukraine, an audit of the National Nuclear Energy Generating Company (NAEK) Energoatom has begun, the results of which will be sent to law enforcement agencies. Interim conclusions are planned to be released in December this year.
Prime Minister Yuliya Svyrydenko announced the start of the audit during a meeting with the head of the State Audit Office Alla Basalaeva. The audit will cover the management apparatus of Energoatom, its 10 branches, and three nuclear power plants for the period 2023–2025. Svyrydenko noted that the materials will be submitted to law enforcement and anti-corruption authorities for appropriate response.
In parallel with the audit of Energoatom, preparations for audits have also begun at other energy companies, including Gas Transmission System Operator LLC of Ukraine, Centrenergo PJSC, and Ukrgazvydobuvannya. The government expects regular reports on the progress of the audits monthly and is ready to take prompt action in case of violations. The Prime Minister emphasized the importance of ensuring transparency in the activities of state enterprises.
Economy Minister Oleksii Sobolev announced that the supervisory board of Energoatom will be formed by the end of the week. It will consist of four independent members and three state representatives. This appointment is part of the government’s efforts to reform the management of state energy companies.
Such actions are part of a large-scale operation to identify corruption schemes in the energy sector, including possible cases of money laundering in Energoatom.
