Ukraine strengthens Kherson’s defense due to constant threats of Russian attacks
President of Ukraine, Volodymyr Zelensky, during his visit to the Kherson region, announced the strengthening of the city’s defense, which is regularly subjected to shelling by Russian drones.
In his speech, Zelensky announced the deployment of additional defensive measures, including the involvement of the 414th Separate UAV Systems Brigade of the Armed Forces of Ukraine “Ptakhy Madyara.” These forces aim to enhance Kherson’s security, which regularly endures thousands of strikes. The President also emphasized the importance of protecting roads and logistical routes. Government officials will coordinate these measures at all levels.
In the context of energy and material support for Kherson, government decisions are also planned to be made soon. The Kherson regional authority has presented requests for support for kindergartens, educational institutions, and social facilities.
Kherson was liberated from Russian occupiers on November 11, 2022, as a result of the Armed Forces of Ukraine’s counteroffensive in southern Ukraine. However, the shelling of the city continues, including an attack on a children’s hospital on October 29. This underscores the need for additional security measures to strengthen the region in the face of danger.
