Poland and Ukraine concluded an agreement on the supply of liquefied gas from the USA
Naftogaz of Ukraine, together with the Polish company Orlen, agreed to supply up to 300 million cubic meters of American liquefied natural gas this winter. Poland will provide a credit facility for post-payment, which will allow Ukraine to more effectively cover the gas deficit.
The conclusion of the agreement was announced by the Chairman of the Board of NJSC Serhiy Koretsky on his Facebook page on November 7. He emphasized that this step is a continuation of strategic cooperation with the Polish concern to supply the Ukrainian market with American gas, which is especially important in the context of energy challenges due to Russian attacks.
The agreement addresses two key tasks: ensuring additional gas volumes during the heating season and covering the liquidity deficit thanks to Polish partners and the export credit agency KUKE. It is about supplying at least 300 million cubic meters of gas, the main terms of the contract have already been agreed upon.
Since the beginning of 2025, Naftogaz, in partnership with Orlen, has already imported more than 400 million cubic meters of liquefied gas from the USA. This step is part of Ukraine’s broader strategy to diversify gas suppliers. Earlier, the country resumed gas imports through the southern Trans-Balkan route from terminals in Greece.
| Supplier | Gas Volume (million cubic meters) | Partnership |
|---|---|---|
| Orlen | 300 | Credit facility from KUKE |
| Southern Trans-Balkan route | – | Gas import from Greece |
