In Vinnytsia region, a deputy was exposed for arranging a fictitious marriage to avoid mobilization
The National Police and the Security Service of Ukraine revealed a deputy from Vinnytsia region who entered into a fictitious marriage with a disabled woman to avoid mobilization. The man and his accomplice have been notified of suspicion.
A member of the Bershad City Council, a member of the “Groysman’s Political Strategy” party, 49-year-old Andriy T., in collusion with a 28-year-old former employee of the social security department, arranged a fictitious marriage with her 19-year-old sister, who has a Group II disability. At the end of 2024, they transported the victim to another region to formalize the marriage, after which they used her medical documents for illegal exemption from conscription to the Armed Forces of Ukraine. The woman was promised 3000 UAH monthly and grocery packages as assistance.
Law enforcement officers established that the living conditions of the deputy and his “wife” contrast greatly. The deputy, who is also a market director and owner of several farms, lives in a luxurious house, while his “wife” lives in a rundown house without proper living conditions and care.
The deputy is suspected of recruiting and transporting a person with disabilities for exploitation, as well as evading military conscription during a special period. The accomplice has also been notified of suspicion. The issue of selecting a preventive measure is currently being considered, and the suspects face up to 12 years of imprisonment with confiscation of property.
