The Russian unit “Rubicon” actively uses modern unmanned technologies
The Russian unit “Rubicon” actively employs modern drones and other unmanned platforms for reconnaissance and strike operations on the front and in the rear of the Ukrainian army.
The arsenal of “Rubicon” includes FPV drones supported by both conventional and fiber-optic systems, loitering munitions “Lancet”, strike cruise drones “Molniya”, and other innovative platforms. The operations are also supported by reconnaissance drones Supercam, Zala, and “Orlan”, while for advanced tasks, Mavic and Autel drones are used.
Yuriy Fedorenko, commander of the 429th Separate Unmanned Systems Regiment, stated that “Rubicon” is capable of receiving air support in case of difficulties with ground units, promptly involving aviation for precise strikes.
The Russian side can procure high-quality fiber optics from China, while Ukraine is limited in such supplies, complicating military operations. The quality of materials allows “Rubicon” drones to penetrate up to 30 km deep from the line of combat engagements.
In addition to the aforementioned technologies, the Russians use interceptor drones, which are modified versions of Ukrainian developments. The enhancement of improvements in unmanned systems has allowed the “Rubicon” unit to advance more effectively on Ukrainian territory, specifically in Pokrovsk.
