Trump Seeks to Accelerate the Peace Process Between Russia and Ukraine
Despite months of efforts by the United States, Russia and Ukraine are not yet ready to sign a peace agreement, stated U.S. Vice President J.D. Vance. He noted that there is a significant difference in the expectations of the parties involved.
U.S. President Donald Trump continues vigorous diplomatic efforts to bring Russia and Ukraine closer to signing a peace deal. However, according to Vice President J.D. Vance, these countries are still not ready for this step. Speaking in an interview with Newsmax, Vance pointed out that fundamental disagreements in assessing the military situation on the front make it difficult to reach an agreement. He emphasized that Russia has an unrealistic perception of its successes on the battlefield, which affects the negotiation process.
J.D. Vance believes that resolving the current conflict is possible but will require significantly more effort than previously anticipated. He also noted that tariffs on goods from Russia have proven to be more effective than sanctions, as the latter did not yield the expected results in the region.
The Vice President stressed that Trump is actively cooperating with major trade partners such as India and China to limit Russian income from oil sales. Although the negotiation process is often accompanied by tension, the U.S. President is confidently determined to achieve an agreement.
Last night, Trump held a phone call with Russian President Vladimir Putin during which they discussed the Russia-Ukraine war. The leaders agreed to meet within two weeks in Budapest. Additionally, according to The Telegraph, Trump is working on creating a “victory fund” for Ukraine.
