Ukraine acknowledged delays in military assistance under the PURL program.

Ermak: Delays in Air Defense Deliveries to Ukraine under the PURL Scheme

Head of the Presidential Office Andriy Yermak announced delays in the delivery of air defense systems to Ukraine under the PURL scheme, which NATO countries use to purchase American weapons. He shared this information in an interview with the American media outlet Axios.

Yermak emphasized that the delays mainly concern air defense systems, which are critically important for Ukraine. Previously, Deputy Minister of Defense Ivan Havryliuk also noted the slower delivery of weapons under PURL compared to direct deliveries from the US under the PDA program.

It is worth recalling that the PURL program was launched on August 4th, and the first aid under it arrived on September 18th. The program provides for monthly funding of $1 billion to strengthen Ukraine’s defense capabilities. In August, President Volodymyr Zelensky announced that the first aid packages included missiles for Patriot and HIMARS systems.

Yermak also expressed hope that Zelensky’s meeting with US President Donald Trump at the White House would determine specific decisions regarding support for Ukraine, including the provision of long-range Tomahawk missiles, which could significantly change the battlefield situation.

The NATO Secretary General noted that more than half of NATO’s 32 member states supported the PURL initiative. The Ukrainian Minister of Defense also reported the joining of six more countries to the mission.
