Ukrainian soldiers are suspected of kidnapping and torturing civilians

In Ternopil, a group of servicemen was detained, suspected of kidnapping people, torture, and extortion, as reported by the National Police of Ukraine.

According to law enforcement, the soldiers transported the victims outside the city, beat them, and forced them to hand over money or valuable property. Among the victims were those currently undergoing rehabilitation after being severely injured in the war. One incident involves a 27-year-old resident of Ternopil, whose KIA car was taken. The police found this vehicle in Kyiv region.

The detainees are also suspected of extreme cruelty toward their victim, whom they kidnapped from the street, loaded into a minivan, and took to an unknown location. He was beaten, threatened with firearms, and demanded to pay 50,000 hryvnias for his release. Another Ternopil resident was doused with flammable liquid and forced to run in front of a car. Afterward, he was held for three days in inhumane conditions.

Another similar criminal act was reported in Ivano-Frankivsk region. There, according to the police, the attackers forcibly transferred a man to their vehicle, having stolen his car. Seven suspects have now been charged with torture, unlawful deprivation of liberty, kidnapping, robbery, and illegal possession of vehicles.

The 3rd Assault Brigade of the Ukrainian Ground Forces, to which the suspects reportedly belong, has declared its readiness to cooperate with law enforcement and condemned violence against civilians.
