Ukraine may produce 20 million UAVs of various types in 2026, according to Shmyhal.

Ukraine plans to increase drone production to 20 million units by 2026

Ukraine will be able to produce up to 20 million drones by 2026, provided there is adequate funding from international partners, Defense Minister Denys Shmyhal said after a meeting of the Contact Group in the “Ramstein” format in Brussels.

According to Denys Shmyhal, the Ukrainian defense industry is already prepared for large-scale production of both FPV drones and ISR drones, as well as other types of unmanned aerial vehicles, given that the appropriate funding is ensured. The minister emphasized that these productions are cost-effective and have been proven in real combat conditions.

In his speech, Shmyhal particularly thanked the United Kingdom for its support in the production of interceptor drones and the delivery of 85,000 drones this year. He noted that at the beginning of 2025, his predecessor as defense minister estimated the Ukrainian industry’s capacity to produce up to 10 million drones annually.

Experts point out that such developments could significantly impact the tactical capabilities of the Ukrainian army. Increasing drone production will not only strengthen the country’s defense capabilities but also enhance cooperation with international partners in the military sphere.
