Ukraine intends to strengthen the production of its own air defense systems for less dependence on imports
Ukraine plans to increase the production of its own small and medium-range air defense systems in order to reduce dependency on imports. This was stated by President Volodymyr Zelensky after a meeting of the Supreme Commander-in-Chief’s Staff.
Zelensky emphasized that Ukrainian production of air defense systems is a guarantee of the country’s protection. He pointed out that one cannot rely solely on the availability of resources on the global market or in the reserves of partners. The president stressed the necessity of timely task execution in production and accountability at all levels.
The Secretary of the National Security and Defense Council, Rustem Umerov, reported that the Ministry of Defense will be instructed to expedite the production process of domestic air defense systems. The meeting also discussed the effectiveness of interceptor drones and their deployment on different parts of the front. Special attention was paid to progress in production and the fulfillment of current contracts.
Earlier, on November 7, Zelensky reported that Ukraine plans to produce an analogue of the Mavic drone, for which the relevant contracts are already being prepared. On November 24, Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal announced that the Armed Forces of Ukraine had received 100,000 FPV drones under the new DOT-Chain Defence system.
