Ukraine demands the return of 50 abducted citizens from the Sumy region from the territory of Russia
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine has called on Russia to return 50 citizens who were illegally taken from the village of Hrabivske in the Sumy region. According to Minister Andriy Sybiha, this case is a war crime.
Ukraine’s Foreign Minister Andriy Sybiha stated the need for international measures to investigate the abduction of 50 Ukrainian citizens, mostly elderly women, from the village of Hrabivske. Sybiha compared Russia’s actions to those of terrorist organizations, calling for the return of the abducted citizens. The Ministry of Defense of Ukraine also confirmed the incident, reporting stabilization actions in the region.
The Ukrainian side reminded of the thousands of other civilians, including children, who were forcibly deported to Russia, and called on international organizations to join these demands. Experts believe this highlights the ongoing threat to life near Russia and the urgent need for lasting peace and strong security guarantees.
It should be noted that the head of the village of Hrabivske reported that on December 20, about 50 residents were taken to Russia after they signed refusals to evacuate. A representative of the Armed Forces of Ukraine noted that these actions by the Russian Federation might be a provocation rather than a new front direction.
