General Vadim Solymchuk commands the operation in Kupiansk, Kharkiv region
The Ukrainian operation in the city of Kupiansk, led by General Vadim Solymchuk, has attracted significant attention due to his active involvement and effective management on the ground.
According to information obtained by LIGA.net from five sources in the General Staff, the National Guard command, and the Kupiansk tactical group headquarters, it was General Vadim Solymchuk, as Deputy Commander of the Joint Forces Major General Mykhailo Drapaty, who directly led the operation in Kupiansk. According to sources, an effective cooperation has long been established between Drapaty and Solymchuk, and the latter successfully operated in the Kupiansk direction.
According to information from the headquarters, responsibility in the city was shared between different commanders: Solymchuk was responsible for operations in Kupiansk itself, while the situation on the northern outskirts was controlled by the National Guard Corps Commander “Khartia” Colonel Ihor Obolensky. All sources emphasize that the liberation of Kupiansk is the result of coordinated work, not the merit of a single officer or commander.
On December 12, General Solymchuk reported on the progress of the operation to President Volodymyr Zelensky, particularly regarding the search and destruction of the remnants of Russian units in Kupiansk. Experts believe that this episode demonstrates a high level of professionalism and the general’s closeness to his subordinates, which is crucial for the morale of the troops.
