Ukraine Reduces Gas Prices, but They Remain Higher than European Rates
Economic data indicates that gas prices in Ukraine are decreasing for the second consecutive month, yet they remain 20% higher compared to European prices.
The Ministry of Economy of Ukraine has set the actual selling price of domestically produced natural gas for September 2025 at 19,644.50 hryvnias per thousand cubic meters, excluding VAT. This is a significant increase compared to the previous year when the price was 14,500 hryvnias. Although there is a downward trend in the market, the cost of gas in Ukraine is still 20% higher than European figures.
In Europe, gas prices have stabilized at the level of 390 dollars per thousand cubic meters, which is lower than the Ukrainian September price of approximately 475 dollars. The price for household consumers in Ukraine remains unchanged until March 31, 2026, according to a decision by the Cabinet of Ministers.
Ukraine is also actively negotiating with international partners to increase natural gas imports by 30%, which may contribute to further market stabilization. Analysts note that gas prices are an essential factor for the country’s economic stability and social support for the population.
