Startup of the Day: Anima.ua — a platform based on AI for monitoring psychological state through web eye-tracking

Anima: how artificial intelligence helps assess mental state through eye-tracking

Anima is a startup that connects neuroscience and artificial intelligence for rapid assessment of a person’s mental state through eye-tracking. The initiative emerged at the beginning of the war as a response to growing challenges in the field of mental health.

Anima is an innovative tool that can determine the level of anxiety, stress, depression, or burnout in just 10 minutes directly through the camera. The platform analyzes the user’s eye movements to identify focus and interprets these data through artificial intelligence. This approach allows not only to understand the current state of a person but also to predict potential mental issues such as PTSD or eating disorders. Eventually, this method can be applied in both the corporate sector and military programs.

Founded by Roman Havrysh and Serhiy Danylov, the startup already serves over 120,000 users and has generated over $230,000 in revenue. The development of the MVP took a year and a half and required about $500,000 in investment from the founders. Despite initial challenges related to the conceptual approach, the team simplified the interface and is trying to implement a human, rather than technical, style of communication.

Experts note that Anima is entering the rapidly growing mental health market. According to Deloitte and McKinsey, more than 60% of workers in the US report high levels of stress or emotional exhaustion. Given this, solutions that include scientifically grounded and technologically supported elements, catering to the needs of modern society in the field of mental health, are of significant interest.
