In Russia, long-range drone attacks have been recorded again, resulting in several regions being affected.
On the night of December 12, drones struck the territories of the Yaroslavl and Tver regions. Russian local authorities report attacks on key infrastructure facilities, including the “Slavneft-YANOS” plant. The falling of drone fragments in the Tver region injured seven people, including a child. The Russian Ministry of Defense stated that 90 drones were recorded as shot down or intercepted overnight, most of them (63) over the Bryansk region.
This situation is part of a broader series of attacks as on December 11 it was reported that Ukrainian drones successfully struck an oil platform in the Caspian Sea owned by “Lukoil-Nizhnevolzhskneft”. This raised concerns about the security of the oil infrastructure in the region. Also, on the night of December 11, drones were recorded approaching Moscow, as well as in the Novgorod and Smolensk regions.
Experts see these attacks as increasing pressure on Russian infrastructure, which could have long-term consequences for the country’s economic stability. Further attacks may lead to an escalation of tensions in the region.
