Ukrainian military formation attacked the Novokuibyshevsk Oil Refinery Plant in the Samara region
On the night of November 16, Ukrainian defense forces struck the Novokuibyshevsk oil refinery plant in the Samara region of Russia and destroyed the “Rubicon” drone base. This led to a major fire and halted the operation of the plant.
The Armed Forces of Ukraine, supported by Special Operations Forces and military intelligence, attacked the Novokuibyshevsk oil refinery plant, a facility with an annual processing capacity of 8.8 million tons, which is one of the largest producers of jet fuel for the Russian army. Following a previous strike on August 28, seven simultaneous fires occurred, resulting in the complete shutdown of the facility’s operations for an extended period.
Local residents report fires and explosions near the plant. The extent of the damage is being clarified. Additionally, they attacked a fuel and lubricants pumping station in the temporarily occupied territory of the Donetsk region and a drone storage base of the “Rubicon” unit.
On November 15, damage to the Ryazan oil refinery plant was also recorded, where oil processing units and pipelines were damaged. These series of attacks are part of a broader offensive by the Armed Forces of Ukraine, which in recent days have been actively using drones and missiles to target military objectives on Russian territory. On November 14, a Ukrainian “Neptune” missile hit a Russian fleet base in Novorossiysk, temporarily halting 2% of global oil supplies.
