Key figure in the corruption case “Midas” left Ukraine before searches
Timur Mindich, suspected of organizing a corruption scheme in the public sector, left Ukraine before large-scale searches conducted by NABU and SAP.
According to a source in law enforcement agencies, businessman and long-time associate of the President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky, Timur Mindich, left the country on the night of November 10, just hours before the start of a special operation by the National Anti-Corruption Bureau of Ukraine and the Specialized Anti-Corruption Prosecutor’s Office.
Over $100 million is the estimated damage caused by the corruption scheme allegedly led by Mindich at strategic state sector enterprises, including “Energoatom”.
Simultaneously with the searches of Timur Mindich, law enforcement agencies are conducting investigative actions with Ihor Myronyuk, a former adviser to Herman Galushchenko. Searches are also being conducted at Galushchenko’s own premises, although the source notes that the announcement of suspicion against him is currently in question.
The NABU and SAP operation, dubbed “Midas”, is the result of a 15-month investigation. Law enforcement listened to about a thousand hours of recordings to document the activities of the criminal organization, involving individuals with codenames “Rocket”, “Tenor”, and “Carlson”. All NABU detectives were involved in searches at 70 sites.
