Almost 20 billion euros: Ukraine summarized partners’ assistance at the new “Ramstein” meeting

New stage of international military aid: Ukraine’s partners announced significant financial commitments

The International Contact Group on Ukraine’s Defense in “Ramstein” format has declared record military support, with a volume amounting to at least 19.5 billion euros.

According to the announcement by Ukraine’s Defense Minister Denys Shmyhal, partner countries have committed to provide about 5 billion dollars for the development of Ukrainian defense production and a similar amount for the purchase of American weapons under the PURL program by 2025. This decision was made against the backdrop of Ukraine’s growing need for long-term military support.

The Chancellor of Germany announced an intention to provide 11.5 billion euros in 2026 with a focus on air defense, drones, and artillery shells. Additionally, the country has already delivered two Patriot missile systems and one Iris-T system to Ukraine.

The United Kingdom plans to enhance Ukraine’s air defense capabilities with 600 million pounds (~674.5 million euros) using frozen Russian assets, partners’ funds, and its own budget, to be implemented in 2025.

Other countries also announced their support: Canada will provide 30 million Canadian dollars (~17 million euros) and air missiles, the Netherlands – 700 million euros for drones, and Montenegro has invested in the PURL mechanism and the NSATU fund.

Denmark, Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania, Luxembourg, New Zealand, Norway, Poland, Portugal, and the Czech Republic will also join in supporting Ukraine, each making their contribution to the country’s defense capability. These commitments demonstrate broad international support, which is critically important for confronting the challenges the country faces.
