Oleksandr Horbunenko announced attacks on his company before the privatization of Odesa Port Plant
Businessman Oleksandr Horbunenko accused opponents of information attacks related to his company’s intention to participate in the privatization of the Odesa Port Plant (OPZ).
Co-owner of the company AgroGasTrading Oleksandr Horbunenko shared on his Facebook page about the information attacks he and his company are facing. The businessman associates these actions with the desire to participate in the OPZ privatization. Recently, the publication “Ukrainska Pravda” reported that he was allegedly detained in the USA concerning “schemes” at the OPZ, and hinted at a connection with businessman Timur Mindich and money laundering.
Horbunenko categorically denied any connections with Mindich and other persons mentioned in the article. According to him, AgroGasTrading has been cooperating with OPZ since 2017. He also emphasized that the situation is repeating after previous information attacks in 2020, which began after the company’s statement about its intention to privatize OPZ.
Speaking about the procedures mentioned in the article in the USA, the businessman stated that it was a standard immigration procedure related to the correctness of data submission and is not related to his activities in Ukraine. Horbunenko called for transparency and fair competition in the privatization process.
Last month, the State Property Fund of Ukraine announced the fifth attempt to privatize OPZ, with an auction scheduled for November 25 with a starting price of 4.5 billion UAH. Experts note that new players may appear in the competition, which will increase competitiveness and possibly the starting price.
