The new Moldovan government will be sworn in on November 1st and hold its first meeting on November 5th.
The Parliament of Moldova appointed Alexandru Munteanu as Prime Minister on October 31st, after which the new government lineup received approval from the ruling “Action and Solidarity” party. The opposition refrained from supporting the new cabinet.
During his speech, Munteanu urged deputies to support the government program focused on economic growth and European integration, emphasizing the unwavering pro-European course supported by the majority of Moldovan citizens. The new government lineup retained several ministers from the previous cabinet.
Munteanu’s predecessor, Dorin Recean, concluded his mandate on October 13th and refused to lead the government again. On October 24th, Moldovan President Maia Sandu made the decision to appoint Munteanu, who has experience working in Ukraine, as Prime Minister, highlighting the country’s aspiration for closer integration with the European Union.
