Power outages in Crimea due to damage to electrical substations, as well as a fire at the oil depot

Fire and Power Outage in Crimea Following Explosions

On the night of October 17th, explosions rocked the temporarily occupied Crimea, causing a fire at an oil depot in the village of Hvardiiske and resulting in power outages in several settlements.

According to reports from local puppet officials, including Sergey Aksyonov, the explosions may have been caused by drone attacks that damaged several electrical substations. As a result, the populations of Yevpatoria, Saky, Novofedorivka, and other cities were left without electricity. Sergei Bydanets, the head of the Krasnoperekopsk district, stated that restoration work is currently underway, but electricity has not yet been restored. In Yevpatoria, kindergartens and schools operated on reduced schedules and were forced to deny meals to children due to disruptions in electricity and water supply.

The fire that occurred at the oil depot in the village of Hvardiiske started after a series of explosions. According to the Telegram channel “Crimean Wind,” the first reports of the incident began arriving around 2:40 AM. The oil depot belongs to the company “Kedr LLC,” which owns the ATAN network of gas stations. There is currently no data on the extent of the damage, and the occupation administration has not commented on the events.

These attacks are part of a broader wave of incidents in the region, including explosions in other parts of Russia, such as drone attacks in Sochi and fires at industrial sites in the Samara region. Analysts note that this series of events indicates an escalation of the conflict in the region and could have significant political consequences for both sides.
