Russia Attacked Nizhyn: Drone Strike Damages Residential Buildings
On October 15, Russian forces attacked the city of Nizhyn in the Chernihiv region using drones, causing damage to residential properties as well as a building housing a store and a Nova Poshta branch. Two people were injured.
According to information from the city’s mayor, Oleksandr Kodola, and the head of the regional military administration, Viacheslav Chaus, drones hit two residential buildings and the building where the store and Nova Poshta branch are located. Local residents are advised to stock up on potable water and charge necessary devices.
This new strike occurred against the backdrop of massive Russian attacks on Ukraine’s critical infrastructure, which began on the night of October 10. Energy facilities in the Nizhyn district of Chernihiv region were notably damaged. As a result of the attacks, planned power outages have resumed in various regions of Ukraine.
Analysts note that the intensified attacks on critical facilities could lead to complications in ensuring water and power supplies, which in turn could cause temporary infrastructure disruptions and increase risks for civilians.
