The White House suggested that Democrats, after winning the congressional elections, may once again seek to impeach U.S. President Donald Trump. The American leader’s administration is confident that such an initiative would fail.
This was stated in a Trump administration statement released on November 4. The White House described previous attempts to remove the president from office as unsuccessful and said that another impeachment effort would also fail.
In the November 3 midterm elections, the Democratic Party won control of the House of Representatives and the Senate. This changes the balance of power in Congress: Democrats will be able to block legislative initiatives and administration nominees put forward by Trump.
If Trump continues to pursue his policy toward Russian aggression, Democrats will criticize and attack him over it. At the same time, analysts believe that no immediate changes should be expected.
The White House’s position
In addition to a possible impeachment, the Trump administration said that Democrats would allegedly seek to overturn the president’s decisions in a number of areas, including immigration policy, taxes, the law enforcement system, energy, gender policy, and the work of the Supreme Court.
The administration lists the following among its achievements:
- strengthened border security;
- large-scale deportations;
- tax cuts;
- lower crime rates;
- record energy production;
- the abolition of DEI programs.
The White House assured that Democratic attempts to overturn the president’s decisions, revise his policy course, or initiate impeachment would not succeed.
“The American people have already rejected this agenda.”
U.S. presidential administration
Trump himself has already threatened to veto bills, while also expressing readiness to work with the Democratic majority.
Statements by Zelenskyy and Vance
President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said on November 3 that after the elections, the United States’ role in global security could diminish, as Washington would focus on domestic issues.
U.S. Vice President Vance called the war with Iran the main reason for Republicans’ defeat in the midterm elections.
