The Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine decided on an additional redistribution of 220 million hryvnias from the state budget for the needs of the defense and security sector. These funds were previously saved within other budget programs.
According to the information provided by Prime Minister Yuliya Svyrydenko, 100 million hryvnias will be allocated for training personnel for the National Guard. The Ministry of Defense will receive 70 million hryvnias for the development, procurement, modernization, and repair of weapons. The remaining 50 million will be directed to the activities of the Main Intelligence Directorate.
This redistribution became possible due to unused funds from the budget for financing the National Commission that carries out state regulation in the fields of energy and utilities (NKREKP). Earlier, on June 10, the Verkhovna Rada approved changes to the budget to increase funding for the security and defense sector by 1.56 trillion hryvnias, without increasing the financial support for the military.
It should be recalled that President Volodymyr Zelensky announced an increase in payments to military personnel starting from June, with amounts of at least 30,000 hryvnias for rear units and an average of 300,000 hryvnias for infantrymen on the front line.
