Zelensky Discusses Ukraine Support and Pressure on Russia with a Delegation Following Talks in the US
President Volodymyr Zelensky received a report from delegates Rustem Umerov and Andriy Hnatov about their negotiations in the United States, aimed at supporting Ukraine and increasing pressure on Russia.
On Tuesday, December 23, the presidents communicated with the Secretary of the National Security and Defense Council Rustem Umerov and the Chief of the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine Andriy Hnatov about the talks that recently took place in the US. According to the President’s Office, Zelensky received detailed reports from the delegation members about successful meetings with the team of the US President Donald Trump.
Zelensky noted that the outcome of the negotiations was the preparation of several draft documents, in particular, regarding security guarantees for Ukraine, post-war recovery, and basic conditions for ending the conflict. The President emphasized the importance of ensuring that the clauses are formulated in such a way as to protect Ukraine from renewed aggression.
According to Zelensky, each new meeting and round of negotiations contribute to the strengthening of Ukraine’s positions. He thanked European partners for their support and coordination and expressed hope for ongoing dialogue with the US.
Rustem Umerov summarized the results of the meetings that took place in the US as productive and constructive, particularly noting remarks that achieving peace in Ukraine requires 5% more effort. This underscores the importance of increasing international pressure on Russia, as Ukraine’s determination to end the war surpasses Russia’s determination.
