Zelensky urged the US to strengthen sanctions and military support to pressure Russia
President Volodymyr Zelensky believes that Russia does not feel enough pressure from the international community and calls on the US to strengthen sanctions and provide more military support to Ukraine.
During an online interaction with journalists, Zelensky expressed confidence that Russia continues to seek full annexation of Ukraine. He noted that to change Moscow’s position, sanctions that would apply financial pressure on the Russian Federation should be used. According to him, without financial resources, Russia will not be able to continue its aggression at the same level: “Without money, like it or not, it simply won’t be able to,” the president said, emphasizing the importance of economic pressure.
Zelensky also stressed that American determination in the form of comprehensive sanctions and active military support could be a key factor in ending the war. He believes that the US should not seek alternative partners, as their influence on the international stage is a factor capable of stopping the conflict through diplomatic means.
Previously, Zelensky expressed the opinion that economic pressure on Russia in the form of sanctions could reduce its military capabilities. Meanwhile, signals continue to come from Moscow that the next year may be declared a “year of war,” and Ukraine expects decisive actions from its international partners.
