The government of Ukraine has launched an experimental project for the automatic military registration of conscripts, aiming to simplify this procedure and reduce bureaucracy.
According to the Cabinet of Ministers’ resolution, conscripts, reservists, and those liable for military service can be automatically registered without the need to visit recruitment centers. This applies to men who did not register at the age of 17 and become conscripts upon reaching 18, as well as men aged 18 to 60 who are abroad. The latter are automatically registered when receiving or exchanging passport documents at the units of the State Migration Service. This approach aims to reduce the workload on recruitment centers and decrease the number of personal visits to them.
The Deputy Minister of Defense for Digital Development, Oksana Ferchuk, noted that through data exchange between the Ministry of Defense, the Migration Service, the demographic register, and the civil status register, the process of fulfilling military duties becomes more automated. From now on, citizens do not need to go through bureaucratic hurdles to fulfill their duty to the state.
The project is aimed at improving the efficiency of administrative processes and reducing the burden on recruitment centers so that their staff can focus on mobilization tasks. According to the Ministry of Defense, such initiatives have been planned for a long time.
