Not a transfer, but an exchange: Ukrainian ambassador to Poland reveals details of negotiations on MiG-29

Ukraine has proposed an exchange to Poland: drones in exchange for MiG-29 fighters.

The Ukrainian Ambassador to Poland, Vasyl Bodnar, stated the possibility of exchanging Ukrainian drone technologies for Polish MiG-29 fighters that have served their term in the Polish army.

According to the diplomat, this is specifically about the exchange of 14 aircraft that Poland could provide to Ukraine in exchange for know-how and drones. Bodnar noted that this equipment has already proven its effectiveness on the battlefield and can significantly enhance Poland’s defense capability. However, he refused to specify the models and number of Ukrainian drones to be transferred.

The ambassador emphasized the sensitivity of the details of the agreement, stressing that open discussions might harm cooperation: “We are online, and we can be heard not only by friends but also by enemies.”

On December 10, the Polish armed forces reported ongoing negotiations with Ukraine regarding the possibility of transferring the fighters. However, Polish President Karol Nawrocki mentioned that he has no information on specific steps regarding the transfer of the aircraft.
