Yermak: Zelensky will not sign an agreement to give up territories.

Yermak excludes the possibility of territorial concessions by Ukraine during peace negotiations

The head of the Office of the President, Andriy Yermak, emphasized that Ukraine will not give up any of its territories as long as Volodymyr Zelensky is president.

In a phone interview with The Atlantic, Andriy Yermak clearly stated that no documents will be signed that involve giving up Ukrainian land. He stressed that the Constitution of Ukraine prohibits such actions, and their implementation would mean violating the will of the Ukrainian people. Yermak added that currently, only a discussion about defining the line of contact is possible.

The context for these statements was the recent negotiations in Geneva on November 23, involving Ukraine, the USA, and European partners. They discussed a peace plan, which was later reduced from 28 to 19 points. The initial version of the plan envisaged that control over Donbas would go to Russia, while the lines of control in the Kherson and Zaporizhzhia regions would remain unchanged.

Experts believe that such statements by Ukraine could influence the further course of negotiations and reduce the possibility of a peaceful resolution of the conflict, given Ukraine’s principled position on territorial issues.
