Ukrainian nuclear power plants exceed projected electricity production
Since the beginning of the year, Ukrainian nuclear power plants have generated more than 25 billion kWh of electricity, exceeding forecasts by over 500 million kWh.
The company “Energoatom” reported the successful connection of another nuclear power unit to the power grid after the completion of scheduled preventive maintenance. According to Pavlo Kovtonyuk, head of Energoatom, the midpoint of the repair campaign has already been passed, and most scheduled preventive maintenances on the power units are being completed ahead of schedule, making a significant contribution to the stability of Ukraine’s energy system.
Thanks to the clear organization of work and the professionalism of the nuclear plant teams, the country is currently able to operate without the need for electricity shutdown schedules that were implemented last year due to the consequences of massive attacks. The return to operation of another power unit will increase the amount of electricity, helping to ensure the system’s resilience during periods of maximum load.
It should be recalled that Ukraine has three nuclear power plants with nine power units on the controlled territory. The repair campaign will continue until October, and Energoatom plans to continue supporting the stability of the energy system even during summer peak loads.
