The Cabinet increased the scale of new energy infrastructure construction in Dnipropetrovsk region.

The Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine increased the capacity of the new generation by 183 MW in the Dnipropetrovsk region, which allowed increasing the planned capacity to 1505 MW. This decision aims to strengthen energy supply in the region and support the country’s energy system.

The Ukrainian government approved changes to the second stage of the competitive selection for the construction of new generation facilities by establishing an additional capacity quota of 183 MW specifically for the Dnipropetrovsk region. The First Vice Prime Minister for Energy, Denys Shmyhal, announced the creation of a competition commission, which will be headed by the First Deputy Minister of Energy, Artem Nekrasov. The commission will be engaged in approving the composition and conducting the competition.

The Minister noted that within the framework of the first stage of the competition, businesses undertook obligations for the implementation of projects with a capacity of 78.1 MW. The second stage introduced new rules, which stipulate that the facilities must have a capacity of at least 10 MW and be provided with the second level of protection. The state guarantees support in the form of market premiums if the electricity price during peak periods is below the established limit.

The government hopes that all planned capacity volumes will be commissioned by the end of 2027. This will be an important step in forming a new architecture of Ukraine’s energy security and developing distributed generation, which will ensure the stability of the energy system during peak loads.

Let us remind you that from June 1, a state program for supporting distributed generation was launched in Ukraine, allowing enterprises to attract loans at 10% per annum thanks to the reimbursement of part of the interest rate by the state.

Parameter Value
Additional capacity quota 183 MW
Total capacity of new generation 1505 MW
Commissioning deadline End of 2027
Maximum cost per kWh 27.92 euro cents
