Ukrainian boxer Wladimir Klitschko has filed a petition in a Los Angeles court for temporary authority to represent the interests of his 11-year-old daughter, Kaya, in matters related to the estate following the death of her mother, actress Hayden Panettiere. A hearing on the petition is scheduled for October 8.
According to the Associated Press and CNN, Klitschko is seeking to be appointed temporary guardian of his daughter’s estate in order to protect the assets she is set to inherit. AP reports that Kaya is Panettiere’s sole heir.
The court petition mentions the actress’s property seized by federal agents as part of the investigation into her death. The document also refers to instances of unauthorized access by third parties to Panettiere’s home in Los Angeles and the disappearance of valuable items.
Klitschko’s lawyers said appointing a temporary representative was necessary until a permanent administrator of the estate is determined.
“urgent and necessary”
In their view, without such a decision, estate assets could be lost, damaged, or transferred. Klitschko emphasizes that he only seeks to protect his daughter’s future assets until a permanent estate administrator is appointed.
According to news agencies, Kaya has lived with her father in Ukraine for most of her life. In 2018, Panettiere granted Klitschko full custody of their daughter while she was undergoing treatment for addiction and postpartum depression.
Hayden Panettiere died on August 16, 2026, at the age of 36. In 2013, Klitschko said he would marry Panettiere after the end of the Maidan protests. The actress visited Kyiv several times and expressed support for the Ukrainian people during the Euromaidan.
