Russian drones contain 70–80% Chinese-made parts, while the share of foreign components in Ukrainian weapons purchased with funds from a European loan must not exceed 35%. Europe should offer Ukraine an alternative solution, according to Anatolii Khrapchynskyi, development director at a defense enterprise and a reserve Air Force officer.
Khrapchynskyi said this in an interview with LIGA.net, explaining the need for Ukraine and Europe to create a unified defense-industrial framework.
According to him, the restriction on the share of foreign-made parts applies to Ukrainian weapons purchased using funds from a European loan. At the same time, Russian drones, Khrapchynskyi said, are largely made up of Chinese-manufactured components.
The article does not provide a specific mechanism for the alternative that Europe should offer Ukraine. It also does not specify which types of weapons, loans, or foreign components are being referred to.
